Mr. Goodson then began his career as an attorney practicing maritime law in South Texas, where he handled personal injury, death and property damage claims involving oceangoing ships, shrimping and fishing boats and oilfield supply vessels, as well as the oil and gas exploration and production industry, both offshore and onshore. Upon returning to Houston in 1990, Mr. Goodson expanded the scope of his practice to include the analysis of comprehensive general liability, motor truck cargo legal liability, warehouseman's legal liability, excess liability, shiprepairer's legal, wharfinger's, hull, P&I, marine employers and other insurance policies and the representation of underwriters with respect to contractual and extra-contractual issues. Licensed to practice in all Texas state and federal courts, Mr. Goodson is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Houston Mariner's Club and the American Bar Association Tort and Insurance Practice Section. A native Houstonian, Steve Goodson graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with honors in 1981. While attending the University, he was a member of the National English Honor Society and obtained a Texas Secondary School Teaching Certificate in English and Latin. Following a brief teaching career, Mr. Goodson attended South Texas College of Law and clerked at a Houston law firm specializing in maritime cargo claims before graduating in 1987.
